One important piece of feedback I have heard from residents is that they expect Council members to respond in a timely fashion. As a resident myself, I agree.
There is nothing worse than reaching out to someone and getting no communication in return. Asking for input, direction or feedback, but never getting a response or getting a response after the fact.
From the day I launched my platform I made a distinct commitment that I will always be engaged and respond to inquiries within 24 hours. Even if it is just to make a personal intro to persons better equipped to help or give a timeline for when I can properly respond. Hopefully, you have seen this already in action through your great emails, calls and Facebook questions being replied to now. Being engaged, informed and responsive is the thirteenth reason I ask for your vote on September 30th. #teamjackson
If you choose me as your next Councillor, I definitely commit to working with you and for you for years to come. This is not just a 12 month commitment for me. The opportunity to represent all residents and the community I love is a commitment I am prepared to make for many years to come. Bringing this commitment to invest my time, energy and passion in our City is the twelfth reason I ask for your vote on September 30th. #teamjackson
One of my favourite memories is the day I graduated from Simon Fraser University. I had worked so hard to earn top grades, but when I drove down that hill for the last time as a student, I immediately realized.... "WOW! I don't know ANYTHING!"
This was not to devalue my hard work. It was a reality check that things were just getting started! I was a new graduate. Putting everything I learned into action was going to take a lot more work. And to make this transition as seamless as possible, I made the following commitments to myself:
1) Always admit that I don't know everything 2) Always surround myself with smarter people than me and 3) Always source the best information to make better choices!
This same philosophy applies to Council. Mayor and Council must work together to make important strategic decisions. We must be open-minded to new information, trust input from industry experts, and continue to learn along the way.
Bringing this open-minded approach to learning and decision making on Council is the eleventh reason I ask for your vote on September 30th. #teamjackson
As you know, this by-election is a short one year term and our Council has a lot to do. As a candidate with clearly defined positions on Port Moody's most pressing issues, I am the first candidate to present a complete platform: http://www.jeanettejackson.org/platform--plan.html
This platform is a combination of specific actions still outstanding from the Council Strategic Plan, along with new initiatives that I believe will enhance our leadership in development, transportation, economic development and sustainability.
Bringing this detailed, forward-looking platform that integrates seamlessly into the current priorities for Port Moody Council is the tenth reason I ask for your vote on September 30th. #teamjackson
REASON 9 : JEANETTE IS LITERALLY RUNNING FOR COUNCIL
A fun play on words, if you see someone running door-to-door (rain or shine and wearing this awesome t-shirt), that person is me!
With my hair up and running shoes on, I am hoping to connect with as many people as possible. It is also a great opportunity for me to see in details, what areas of Port Moody need a little TLC when it comes to signage, roadways, walkways, garbage bins and more. Bringing this level of effort and commitment to Port Moody City Council is the ninth reason I ask for your vote on September 30! #teamjackson
